How to set up a VPN on Windows and macOS, step by step
On a computer GnomeVPN runs through the same INCY app as on a phone; the only difference is that the link is pasted by hand, because a computer has no button that opens the app for you. It takes a couple of minutes. Here is installing on Windows and macOS, the first connection and the fallbacks.
Where to download
The installers are on the setup page: an .exe for Windows and a .dmg for Apple Silicon Macs — every Mac with an M1 chip or newer. On those Macs INCY is in the App Store as well. For Ubuntu and Debian there is a .deb package in the same place. The app is free and needs no account of its own: the only account is on our site, where your subscription lives. Download INCY from our page or the app's official site rather than from a third-party build.
Installing
On Windows run the installer and approve the administrator prompt: the rights are needed to create the network adapter the tunnel runs through. On a Mac open the .dmg file and drag INCY into Applications. On the first connection the system may ask for confirmation or an administrator password once more — that is expected, the VPN connection cannot be created without it. From then on the app updates itself, so there is no reinstalling when a new version comes out.
Adding the link
Open your account in a browser: the Connect tab, With a link, INCY, then Copy for INCY. In INCY press + and paste the link. Add it as a subscription rather than as a single server — that way the country list updates itself and the app shows when your subscription ends. If the list is empty, check in your account that a subscription or a free day is active: without one the link delivers no servers. Terms and prices are on the pricing page.
Connecting, and office networks
Pick a country and connect. Every country has two entries: Hysteria2 over UDP and VLESS over TCP. At home start with Hysteria2; at the office or in a hotel, where UDP is often closed, go straight to VLESS — it runs over TCP on port 443, the port HTTPS sites use. Why, and what else such networks do, is in the post on hotel and office networks. Russian sites go direct by default in INCY on a computer too; the switch is in your account, under Routing.
If INCY is not for you
The same link works in Hiddify on Windows and macOS, and in Streisand on a Mac. If you want WireGuard, create a config in your account: on Windows WireSock Secure Connect opens it best and can send only chosen programs through the VPN; on a Mac use the official WireGuard app. Configs and their limits are covered in the WireGuard post. A computer takes one place in the subscription, just like a phone.
